Our Ethics
HYPR do not use mediums, or other sensationalist methods used on investigations by other groups.
No one knows for sure what the paranormal is and if an investigator assumes they do know, this can lead to situations that may cause more problems than it solves.
We take the ethical issues raised by paranormal investigation seriously, and so should others involved in this field.
For instance, there is no clear evidence that alleged haunting s are caused by ghosts!.
So based on that fact alone it would be plainly wrong to lead people to think it is a ghost or spirit, because this might cause upset to people (without any provable evidence) what exactly is causing the phenomena.
It should always be the case that you should not make wild assumptions of a possible haunting at a location, because it would be wrong to do so, and possibly harmful to assume that a location is haunted, when such an assumption may cause distress, & fear to the people who live or work in that location.
We work to the ethics below:
More often than not, we do not investigate most locations offered to us.
Any investigations conducted in private houses/property are confidential, we will not release names and locations without your consent (in writing).
We do not seek media publicity, and we would recommend prospective clients do not either. This can open up an unexpected Pandora's box of unwanted attention.
We don't use parlour tricks (such as séances & Ouija boards, etc) on our investigations. This can be/is very sensationalist, and can cause further distress or fear to clients, who are already often disturbed by the occurrences.
All investigations that we conduct in private houses/properties are done so by written agreements and contracts beforehand, which are explained fully, prior to the investigation.
We do not get rid of entities that are claimed to be in the property.
Our role is to try to verify the alleged activity by gathering evidence to present to the occupant to corroborate their experiences on film or tape and by experiencing it in person, ourselves, as independent witnesses.
Our findings will be presented to our clients.
It is your right, and also ours, to withdraw from the investigation at any time.
We endeavour to consider our client's needs above all. It is necessary for all concerned to note that we cannot work with people under 18 years of age, and people with mental health issues or learning difficulties or people who are frail and vulnerable.
We also discourage people who have had a bereavement within the last twelve months having investigations done if it is in connection with their case.
